June 2019 in Review

Jul 1, 2019

  • I dyed my hair! I’m liking it a lot. It’s supposed to be the in between step to blonde but I’m liking it brown so far. Also the dying really fried my hair pretty badly so I’m going to wait until my hair gets a bit better before dying it to the blonde I want it to be.

  • It was my brother’s birthday. He turned 21! We went to a Korean BBQ restaurant. The food was soooo good. I ate way too much meat.

No one knowing how long to cook the meat for

Hours of Sleep

Sleep is hit or miss. Almost trending to seven hours of sleep. That’s impressive for me, haha. Maybe July is the month where I can finally get seven hours of sleep regularly?

Hours on Phone

Hours on Phone

The 23rd was a weird day. I did not spend much time on my phone at all. I was pretty consistent though in terms of average. Solid 3-ish hours per day on my phone seems not bad. It kinda went up near the end of the month though… Whoops.

Steps Walked

Step Count

The couple days where I barely walked was when I got sick and stayed inside for three straight days in a row. That was not fun. I made it up though by the following week. I walked home from work on Friday. It was a really nice walk! And then on Saturday I needed a mental health walk and ended up walking to work to grab something I forgot and then walked along the river to the library and to the Olympic Plaza and then back home. I was out the majority of the day.

Average Temperature

Average Daily Temperature

The middle of June was pretty darn hot! It kinda tapered off towards the end of the month. Still hot though. Today was 20C. That’s not that hot actually but I do not handle heat well.

I reverted back to my Coheed and Cambria ways. I was feeling pretty down a lot this month and nothing cheers me up more than Coheed and Cambria.

Also got bit by the nostalgia bug. One of my former coworkers is a cosplayer and she recently cosplayed as Sailor Moon’s Luna in her human form. It made me want to listen to wistful, smooth Sailor Moon jazz. Hence the sheer amount of Desired.

I’ve also been on a K-pop binge lately. It always starts by watching 2NE1’s 2015 MAMA performance and being so moved by their stage prescence and missing 2NE1 all over again. I could listen to 2NE1 foreverrrr. YG, you made a mistake (among many other mistakes).

BoA has also been putting out a lot of bangers the past couple years. CAMO. Woman. One Shot, Two Shot. Nega Dola. Will say I haven’t been digging her latest single too much. It’s very SM. Too cheery and bubblegummy for me.

Recently stumbled upon missed messages via the Steam sale. It’s an alright game but the soundtrack is pretty banger. kvtsky has been in my top 10 because I can’t stop listening to him!

Is CRUSH 2NE1’s greatest album? Probably.

Mashrou’ Leila came out with an English version of Cavalry. I don’t know how I feel about it. I’m grateful for knowing the meaning behind a song for once. I wrote a YouTube comment about Hamed’s singing style. There are a lot of comments on their videos about how native Arabic speakers have trouble understanding what he sings. Maybe it’s the Lebanese accent, I thought. No, I think he just loves to slur in his singing, even in English. It’s definitely a stylistic choice, I think. I think I prefer the original.

Seriously, I’m loving secret senshi. It’s so nostalgic. And it makes me feel like I’m in a fairytale. It really brings back a lot of Sailor Moon memories.

I cannot get enough of Life. When I was walking home from groceries, I instinctively started singing to it when it came up on the shuffle. Whoops. It’s just so genuine and has a very hopeful vibe. Yui is so underrated.

its just another day is really haunting in a way. Very melancholic. It’s a remix of Shiloh’s Losing Interest and in a way I kinda wish I didn’t listen to the original because the mystery of the remix is gone. The vocals are pitched low combined with an eeire guitar strumming clearly against the trademark muddy lo-fi sound. Makes a great backdrop to missed messages.

I have no idea why but I am loving BoA’s Woman lately. It’s so much fun to listen to. I just love BoA. The true K-pop queen.

I also feel like 2NE1’s 너 아님 안돼 (Gotta Be You) is soooo underrated. It is such a bop. I love Bom in this song. The colour of her voice is so distinct and fits the song perfectly.

I dyed my hair this month which explains all the spending. Also bought a weighted blanket. Those things are hecking pricey. Also had to skip a week of savings. Saved half than what I usually do. Man, I am hemorrhaging money. This next month will be a doozy though, with the Stampede coming up. I want to eat all the things.
