Day 6 of 100 Days to Offload

Shocking Blue, my virtual Venus flytrap

I joined the tildeverse recently. My homepage lives on tilde.club. I picked tilde.club because it was the very first tildeverse site I stumbled upon (via a Reddit link while looking for help on something although I don’t remember what) and I liked the colour scheme (orange is my favourite colour). What drew me to the tildeverse was the cool retro vibe. I remember talking to a former co-worker about shared server communities and I didn’t know they still existed. The idea of joining a tech community really intrigued me. It reminded me of the days when I made websites in the fandom community but this time, instead of bonding over fandom, the bond is over a love for doing cool stuff with tech.

One of my favourite things about the tilde.club is all the cool services there are. I looooove this little botany command line program. I have been watering my little virtual plant every day. Once my Venus flytrap bloomed, I decided to name it Shocking Blue, after the band that made the song Venus.

Lately I’ve been playing Venus on repeat. I recently watched The Queen’s Gambit on Netflix (the irl chess anime that has been all the rage lately) and there is a scene where they showcase this song and I cannot get it out of my head!

I really enjoyed The Queen’s Gambit. A lot of people have been saying it’s the best series they’ve ever seen but I really don’t know about that. It’s definitely above average, but the best? Granted, I’m not sure what I’d put as my personal “best series”.

This year I’ve seen several TV shows and I can’t say any of them were really amazing except for maybe Code Geass (also, did you know you can export your viewing history on Netflix?). Here’s how I would rank them:

  • Avatar: The Last Airbender

A classic. I think this might be the best series I’ve seen overall, actually.

  • Code Geass

Another classic. This is an anime ridden with tropes but it’s still so thrilling. I haven’t watched this in years so all the beats, while familiar, still seemed new to m, while familiar, still seemed new to me..

  • Beastars

This show has an interesting concept. After watching the first season I went straight to reading the manga. I’m unsure if I’d want to watch the next seasons but I probably will anyway.

  • The Crown

I enjoyed this season. The actress for Princess Diana was phenomenal. But also, I didn’t really enjoy the Prince Charles and Princess Diana plot. I just know too much about that story already.

  • The Queen’s Gambit

This was really good! It reminds me of Code Geass in a way. They both have exceptionally smart protagonists that seem to win almost every time.

  • The Umbrella Academy

I didn’t enjoy season two that much but it was still a very interesting season.

  • Chilling Adventures of Sabrina

I was a little iffy with the latest season but as long as I get some Nick eye candy that’s a-okay with me.

  • Challenger

Watched this one with a group of friends because we were really hyped up about all the SpaceX launches. Weird thing to watch considering that fact but it was a beautiful documentary series.

  • This Is Us

This is the mostly over dramatic show I watch and I love it. Truly a “guilty pleasure”.

  • Stranger Things

Didn’t jive with this season too much. Still fun to watch, though.

  • Tiger King

A masterpiece but also down the list because it is trash TV. It feels like forever ago that I watched this series.

  • The Witcher

Was pretty interesting at first but it started going downhill midway through. A shame, really.
